How To Wear A Romper
I'm writing you today's post from high above on a flight from JKF to LAX ... coincidentally & unintentionally wearing this very ensemble!
A black romper is one of my favorite pieces. It's so versatile that it's gotten me through the very warm days of summer {pictured here} as well as a long & early day of travel. However, much like the maxi dress, it's a piece that isn't quite as easy to pull off as it looks. That is unless of course, you have your personal stylist here to break it down for you. {wink}
The two principles are the same as with the maxi dress:
1) Fit: You want a waist. A built in waist or the ability to create a waist with a belt or sash puts you in control. You can control the garment to flattering your feminine curves, rather than swallowing you shapeless or emphasizing what you would like deemphasized.
2) Fabric: Choose a non-clingy fabric. Once again, this is about you being in control of where our eye goes. A sheer silk or clingy jersey will quickly bring attention to that non-flat stomach or the non-smooth thighs you don't adore. Meanwhile a fabric with a bit of floaty-ness, breath, pleating, thickness is far more flattering.

Oh & if this style is a bit outside your comfort zone, classic black is always the easiest way to try something new. The pantsuit might feel flashy, but the color doesn't. Plus we know it's the most slimming. And if you need some more support in the bosom, look for a style with thicker straps & pair it with a black bra.

P.S. We are just three days away from the two-year anniversary of Dean Street Society & a website relaunch! Tis been a long time comin'! Tune in tomorrow for the story of why August 29th was a meaningful day for me to launch a new business ...
