Unlike most style accounts on Instagram, my posts are never links to buy what I’m wearing. Why? Honestly I don’t buy clothes very often! Most of what I’m wearing isn’t new, available for purchase this week. That’s primarily due to busyness. And when I have downtime, shopping makes me tired more often than excited. And [...]

“Football is a game of inches, menswear is a game of centimeters” You may be aware I am an utterly unabashed fan of college football. And as a stylist, of course adore a well-dressed man. Inches, centimeters, meanwhile my other love of womenswear has more breathing room, less rules. We can get away with an [...]
Here's the question no fashion magazine ever asks you: How do you want your clothing to make you feel when you walk into {insert simple everyday or smashingly exciting activity}?

A year ago I would have been too nervous to wear this outfit on the blog. I was afraid you might look at it and think, "She looks great but if I wore that to work people would give me looks all day ... She can pull that off in fancy New York City but that's never going to fly in my daily mom life ..."

Movies make you wish. Wish you were Audrey Hepburn dancing with Fred Astaire or life had moments Nicole Kidman swinging high above the Moulin Rouge.

I hate rules. No white after Labor Day? Has that person never seen white jeans with a cozy fall sweater, a winter bride or a stunning white peacoat in the snow?!

Being in a bathing suit is weird. You're, like, almost naked. I don't care how comfortable you are in your skin, it's kind of bizarre that it's socially acceptable to wear so little clothes in public, right? Meanwhile, with so little fabric and so little diversity in shape, it's very hard to apply a lot of the style principles I teach: how to be empowered over a garment, change the shape, the silhouette, the style chemistry, where the eye goes. A few strips of lycra don't give a girl much to be empowered over!

Smitten to be featured on Better Homes & Gardens style alongside some of my favorite fellow style bloggers! Check out Jessie, Hallie, Caroline and Beth with our unique spins on one classic little shirtdress. A pale blue washes me out a bit, so to make it pop more I added black and white stripes beneath in the form of a tight light crop top {one that is sometime too form-fitting to wear alone, but is perfect for laying beneath}.

May was a whirlwind m'dear. One night after a long day of filming I had five minutes to change clothes and make it to a friend's book launch party. In those moments, I think every girl needs a couple of "go to outfits". You know they work. They don't take a lot of fuss. And perhaps you even intentionally don't wear them on average days specifically to save 'em in your back pocket for those times when you're rushed or exhausted.
