Cozy Chic Winter Style

We're officially in snow season here in Brooklyn! The challenge of winter style is always:

How does one remain ladylike, flattering and chic while also being toasty warm? In other words, how do you not look like you've gained 10 pounds every time you don 10 layers?

1. The V + The Line: My universal tip for emphasizing our natural feminine curves is to make sure we're creating either the "V" shape of our cleavage through necklaces and necklines, or the line where our waist nips in between our ribs and our hips {hint: even if your shape doesn't nip in here, a skinny belt or high-waist beneath a cardigan gives this illusion}.

2. Skinny + Slouchy: Voluminous sweaters won't swallow you if you're pairing them with a narrow pair of pants. What makes us look even slimmer, is whenever there's a gap of "breathing room". In this ensemble that's the fact that the cardigan floats away from the jeans, as do the boots, so in both spots there's that bit of breath that says: This girl is narrow, while this cardigan and boots are a bit wider than she is.

Go forth and be cozy, m'dear.

Also, a fur collar is one of my favorite remarkable {definition: worthy of remarking upon ... just one detail a day makes for noteworthy style!} winter accents. I bought a handful from Etsy for about $12-20 each and just lay them over my sweaters, cardigans and coats interchangeably. They keep you toasty and make a slouchy sweater look fancy in a flash.

You're welcome. {wink}
