My Chic Winter Style Secret

Sometimes I have a style breakthrough & I just can't stop talking about it. I have to show my best friend, my neighbors, my mom. This was my breaakthrough of Winter 2012/2013: The sleeveless cape.

Game. Changer.

Here's the deal: The cape can't be sewn beneath the arms & it can't be a thick knit. If it's a thin but warm fabric, & also totally open underneat the arms, you're golden. You push or fold it up on top of your shoulders, then wrap it around it you, & put your coat on top.

You now have an extra layer of warmth all around you. Which you can either keep on for darling warmth when you arrive. Or remove because it's not an integral part of your outfit {unlike a sweater which sometimes you put on expecting not to take off but then you're so hot you resort to the wrinkled button-down underneath you didn't think would get seen}. And while in transit, no Chistmas-Story-arms.

Also, how darling is this dress? So smitten with the company Hallalu that sent it over. I get asked where it's from everytime I wear it & it fits like a dream. And I just adore the story of Catherine & Hallelu

Do you have a stay-warm-stay-chic winter trick? Do tell! Because even though spring is right around the corner, there's always next year ...

P.S. There's two very big things happening here on Dean Street this week.

One, I'm sharing a new idea that's taking the place of #StyleMe this month. I'm bursting at the seams to share it, so keep your eyes peeled come Wednesday to learn how to #EncourageBeauty starting March 1st!

Two, it's the last week to apply for The Mentorship Coterie! If you think Marie Forleo's BSchool could be right for you, let's chat. I want to pinch myself that I get to help some people create providence in their lives by this summer through mentoring some of Marie's new students. Don't miss the March 4th deadline!
