A Chic Classic Christmas

Happy eve of Christmas eve, love!

Are you feeling at all over the red and green color palettes in your closet yet? If you're headed to a final holiday celebration, consider keeping it classically chic in black and white. You can feel just as festive with lace, leather and pearls -- adding the fancy while losing the kitsch IF you've work that one red sweater a few too many times this month already.

Remember, there are no rules. Festive and fancy is whatever makes you sparkle.

And take this opportunity to play with The 2-Part Fashion Cocktail.

Polka dots, pearls and bows can feel cranberry but black and white keeps it chic. A leather skirt and sheer top can feel vodka, but a pencil skirt silhouette is ladylike and the pearls temper the top's sheerness. This season I'm raising a glass to you having honed your educated style in 2013 and waltzing through this season without the typical stress and self-consciousness because you're a Dean St betty who knows she's always empowered over her closet and her confidence.

I'm off today to soak in the Christmas spirit of New York CIty! I'm drinking festive things, wandering the shop fronts on Fifth Avenue to see the world-famous displays and ready to hear Christmas music round every corner. Hope you're feeling in the spirit too ...
