Winter White Style

I'm freshly back from a few days upstate holed up in a B&B working on my book {which comes out just four weeks from tomorrow! there's juicy pre-order bonuses rolling out so hop on the list here} on the corner of Main Street and the river with fall leaves everywhere. It was heavenly.

So often fall rushes by in New York City but this year it's really making itself comfortable and I'm pretty giddy about it. So I've no desire to rush us into winter, but when the weather does turn, I'm smitten with the idea of whites and creams and silvers and golds from Thanksgiving on through February.

Don't be timid in layering white on white or cream up top. I find it such a chic combination. And certainly we know that "white after Labor Day" nonesense is outdated. White pencil skirts, skinny jeans, dresses -- I love them with neutrals or blacks all throughout winter. Finally, neutral necklaces are perfect for piling onto one another. The color is simple, so the chunky statement isn't over the top. Oh and a fur collar was one of my favorite additions last season. This year I stocked up on a fistful on Etsy for about $10 a piece. A chic finishing touch in an instant.

Go forth and create a winter wonderland wherever you go, betty.

Just not quite yet if you don't mind. Here in Brooklyn I'm going to soak in fall for as long as possible ...
