Audrey Hepburn on Vacation

It's no secret that I'm a fan of a vintage shilouette. On my body type, wearing a pair of high waisted shorts over a bathing suit is such a flattering way to wander around the resort & a button down tied at the waist is a favorite look for any place, any time. The key to wearing high-waisted shorts like this is to make sure they're not too long, or you end up looking dumpy. And if you're a little heavier around the middle, just make sure you don't tie a blouse with low rise shorts & show off too much mid-rift; try to meet the bottom of the blouse with the top of high-rise shorts/pants/skirts to keep it ladylike.

I love these rehearsal photos of Audrey Hepburn that capture this look from the 50's & 60's. {Even though I recommend caution when wearing short shorts & heels. A ballet flat, flip flop or boat shoe is a much safer bet.}

P.S. I'm thrilled that I've got an Audrey Hepburn inspired photo shoot coming up! Be sure you're following along with {bow ties & bettys} on Bloglovin so you never miss a post!

with grace & gumption, Hilary
