"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined."

The title of this post is a quote by Henry David Thoreau & my mantra for 2012. Another favorite quote is author Donald Miller's insight:

"The human body essentially recreates itself every six months. Nearly every cell of hair & skin & bones dies & another is directed to its former place. You are not who you were last November."

{Or seeing as it's April, last October.} Isn't that delightfully fascinating? Who were you in October? What was happening in your life? What were you working on? Who were you investing most of your time with?

We're one quarter into 2012. What was your vision for this year? How is it going? A few weeks ago I walked on the beach in Puerto Rico & pondered these questions for myself & Dean Street Society. Today or this weekend I hope you can do the same. Pour a cup of tea, transport yourself through these pictures, & answer these questions along the way {leave in the comments so we can cheer you on!}:

1. What have you accomplished already in 2012?

2. What are you most proud of so far this year?

3. What did you expect to have happened that hasn't yet?

4. What can you put into place to make that thing happen?

5. Who do you want to be in the next 3 months?

P.S. If this is one of the first times you've visited Dean Street Society you might be wondering what this has to do with fashion. Well as a stylist, I'm not passionate about fashion, I'm passionate about people being the best version of themselves. And I think it's hard to strut confidently in the direction of your dreams, into a first date or a final interview, in a beige ill-fitting pant that whispers 'please don't look at me'. I want to help you live the life you have imagined. If you've got thoughts on this, get on the Facebook page & share em so we can chat about it!

with grace & gumption, Hilary
